Study finds hydroxychloroquine reduces in-hospital COVID-19 mortality

by Istituto Neurologico Mediterraneo Neuromed I.R.C.C.S.

An Italian observational study contributes to the ongoing debate regarding the use of hydroxychloroquine in the current pandemic. The research, conducted on 3,451 patients treated in 33 hospitals throughout the Italian territory … shows that the use of this drug reduces by 30% the risk of death in hospitalized patients affected by COVID-19.

This runs counter to Dr. A. Fauci’s recent statement: “You look at the scientific data and the evidence. And the scientific data … on trials that are valid, that were randomized and controlled in the proper way, all of those trials show consistently that hydroxychloroquine is not effective in the treatment of coronavirus disease or Covid-19,”

Bear in mind that Dr. Fauci is ignoring and discounting any and all ‘Observational Studies’, which in a pandemic, where thousands are dying, seems to me to be an incredibly short-sighted perspective. Medical practice has used ‘observation’ for perhaps millions of years to treat disease, and while we have more accurate methods today, if something seems to be working for hundreds of practitioners, it should not be ignored. Those Doctors in the USA and elsewhere, using it at the first sign of symptoms or diagnosis, find that for the most patients it eliminates the need for hospitalization, if give early enough.

For sure it should not be shouted down and shamed by a biased press with no medical understanding, because it was suggested by a Republican President. The tide of public opinion show faint signs of reversing. Read the rest of this article hereRead the full study publication if you wish to dig deeper here.
