The intent in this feature is bring you training packages that address the needs of seniors. We hope to motivate you to take action: hire a personal trainer, join a gym, walk into the exercise room at your assisted living facility; whatever your situation, get off the couch and start building your strength and mobility. Exercise courses can set you on the right path and help you avoid the normal mistakes in getting started. Video-based courses are especially helpful in showing you correct form and level of effort for specific exercises. Look for courses that feature the following:
- Emphasis on free weights over machines.
- Pre-workout warm-up
- No ‘gimmic’ apparatus.
- Full range of motion exercise.
- Stretching after each set.
- Significant weights and training to failure.
