Content: Before we begin to give you additional information on why our body needs vitamins, take a moment to think about how much you already know.

It is a well known point that Vitamins and Minerals are essential for the proper functioning of the body. Ironically, the body lacks the ability to yield most of these necessary vitamins and minerals and then must rely on the right diet and supplements in order to get the essential amounts.

Vitamins are actually organic compounds that are clearly found in most foods that we eat and even in the form of vitamin supplements. There are over 13 different vitamins that are needed to execute crucial functions such as protecting the body from infections and disease, aiding in the metabolic procedure and elimination of waste food from the body.

A healthy body that has all the necessary vitamins is able to build the enzymes and hormones that help curb blood pressure, heart rate and glucose levels. Each of these vitamins have different recommended daily allowances depending on a person's age and present health levels. For example, women who are pregnant, children, elderly people and men have different diet expectations and thus require varying amounts.

It is very important to have a balanced nutritious diet to preserve optimal health. If we consume the incorrect foods high in fats and sugars, they will have adverse results on our health and body.

Insufficient quantities of vitamins may point to a vitamin deficiency. These deficiencies may not be that noticeable in the early stages but if you continue to ignore them, this can point to acute health troubles over time.

A deficient eating behavior is the foremost source of vitamin deficiencies. A nutritious and well balanced diet is a must for optimal health but very few people actually adhere to one. Currently, junk foods that are loaded with fat and sugar have replaced healthy foods so people are at a higher threat of developing a vitamin deficiency.

Providing thorough information on nutrition and the right foods can help preclude these deficiencies. Commonly, the harmful effects of a deprived diet can be seen when the body begins to add weoght which is one of the fist obvious signals of a deficiency.

There are numerous health troubles associated to vitamin deficiencies. For example, insufficient amounts of vitamin D can point to weak and abnormal bone structure. A Vitamin C deficiency can point to weakness, fatigue, muscles aches and sometimes even lead to bleeding gums. Inadequate amounts of Vitamin E can actually damage red blood cells in the body making it more vulnerable to disease and infections. In critical examples, an total vitamin deficiency can even point to your demise.

The adverse effects of vitamin deficiencies can be counteracted to some extend by vitamin supplements. A blood test is the best means of finding out wether one has a deficiency or not. . For more detailed information on nutrition, a balance diet and fitness: NutritionFitnessGuru.org
