I never knew much about the sport of baseball, but in the mid nineties Nintendo had a video game on the market known as Roger Clemens’ MVP Baseball, so the Clemens name became a sort of a fixture when it came to the sport of baseball.
I would later learn through friends and catching a televised glimpse of the sport of Baseball itself, what an impressive baseball player and pitcher Roger Clemens is.
Then came this matter of whether or not certain professional athletes had allegedly used Human Growth Hormones or Steroids. An issue that absorbed much television airtime a couple of days ago, and one that included Roger Clemens.
And although this is about the principle of the matter, whether or not certain athletes did allegedly use HGH or Steroids at one time or another, is it also about the many little league players who look to Roger Clemens as a role model?
Maybe it is. For, as we all know many youths in our midst are influenced by the older ones around them and much more so by celebrities who are involved in the kind of entertainment or sport they themselves are probably aspiring to be a part of.
If such a celebrity is suspected of doing something that is deemed unsuitable, he/she is asked to account for his/her actions because members of the community might want to be aware of any alleged inappropriate deeds.
Moreover, they might also not want the young ones in their presence to believe their favourite sport star/celebrity is supposedly doing something that is viewed as being bad.
For no one wants his/her child doing something wrong just because that child’s celebrity role model was suspected of doing it.
And celebrity or not, sometimes being known as a role model is not an easy undertaking. One has to be aware of his/her actions, for you never know who might be looking up to you.
