Pilates Exercises, body toning, muscle building and posture improvement has become one of the most flexible and widely used health and fitness routines available. Pilates is an excellent exercise for dancers because it helps move the body to optimum health with a smooth range of flowing movement - while building strength and agility. It's a common misconception that Pilates method exercise is really only good for strengthening and stretching the core muscles of the body.

By the time you are able to accomplish this simple exercise, you will have strengthened your core muscles (your abdominals, buttocks, and lower back muscles) to the point where you can begin the easiest Pilates mat routines. Irrespective of age and physical disabilities the practice of the appropriate Pilates exercise schedule can be life enhancing to those that are prepared to take the trouble to explore the variety of benefits and routines that are offered by the system and then act upon the most suitable for their circumstances. One of the most striking parallels between these two men's work is the sweeping view they had of the health challenges facing mankind today, and of the wide-ranging benefits that would come about if their ideas were put into practice.

Pilates and Alexander put forth a number of suggestions about how the serious health crisis facing modern modern man could be alleviated. Stress is probably one of the most observable cons of modern day living, Pilates classes improves the body as well as the mind to help it cope with stress , it focuses your mind while doing relaxing breathing exercises, which relaxes the body and eases stress. Pilates is a low impact routine, meaning it does not cause a lot of stress on the body since there is very little bouncing as with other forms of exercise.

The nature of movement in Pilates exercise is low impact and allows pregnant women to exercise effectively without experiencing any undue stress on the now lax joints, or an increased heart rate. Essentially, doing Pilates Matwork would be the most ideal form of exercise that you can do, but reality wise, nobody can really do the demanding exercises of matwork without first experiencing less tiring methods; this is where the Pilates reformer comes in. One of the things that make Pilates so great is that the movements and exercises you do seek to give you strength and flexibility, but not to build any serious amount of bulk to your frame.

Now that you know the background of Pilates and why it was developed, you can realize how this powerful form of exercise can help you gain strength, flexibility, endurance, and the body of that you've always wanted.
