Researchers estimate that one out of three women is on a diet at any given time. Sadly, two-thirds of dieters regain the weight within one year and virtually all regain it within five years. As a holistic health coach this is not surprising to me. At every turn, you hear different information about food and eating—especially if you have been attempting to lose weight.
Diets Don’t Work
What I’m starting to see is that more and more women are more interested in their health and well-being than their extra pounds. They’ve noticed that they aren’t getting the results they want if they only focus on their weight. They’ve all come to the same conclusion—diets don’t work.
The major reason why women aren’t eating healthy is simply because they’re confused. Most don’t know what is really healthy for them to eat. You may have found yourself thinking that something’s wrong with you for not being able to “control” yourself and feel that you have no willpower whatsoever. The thing is if you knew how easy it is to eat healthy, eliminate all the confusion about food and be free to eat what really nourishes your body, you’d be shocked.
Eat Right for Your Body Type
If you learn to eat right for your body type—you can achieve your ideal body weight and be healthy without dieting. Instead of dieting, I recommend that women take the following three steps to achieve their ideal body weight:
1. Develop Food Awareness: You cannot expect to get achieve your ideal weight if you aren’t aware of what food does for you and how it impacts the way you look, feel, and even what you think. The best way to develop food awareness is to get nutritional coaching from a certified professional that you trust. They can help you understand what effect food has on your individual body. Learn what “pure” foods are, as well as how to use and cook them.
You should also identify your metabolic body type. This information will allow you to make the proper adjustments on what kind of foods your body uses and burns efficiently. You can be of one of the following three metabolic body types: carb body type, protein body type or a mixture of the two.
2. Set-up Accountability: Setting goals is the key for success—having someone hold you accountable for your goals is an even greater guarantee of success. It should be someone objective—that isn’t emotionally attached to you like friends or family members.
3. Get Support: When you’re in a supportive setting—such as private or group coaching—it will keep you from wasting time blaming yourself for not keeping up with your goals. With support, you quickly move on and reset your goals instead of beating yourself up.
With these three things—before you know it—you’ll become a pro on making healthy choices on your own. You’ll be so empowered when choosing foods that you will never second guess yourself again when it comes to food. Enjoy a healthy lifestyle without ever dieting again.
