Aging can really take its toll on the human body. We would not dread getting older so much if it didn't include the deterioration of our body. Well, at least I can live with the fact that we can acquire oodles of knowledge as we grow older. We would be good to go if we could just find a way to keep our bodies like they were at age 20. Then again, if these were the case, then we'd all be living forever. The problem is that there's clearly not enough room on this planet for that.
If we could somehow obliterate all the brain disorders, then we can probably live our 75-90 years to the fullest. In my humble opinion, that would be a great start because we all know that new-age Alzheimer’s drugs just aren't doing the trick for everyone.
Do you know your chances of acquiring Alzheimer’s disease? If you don’t, then you should know that your chances are about 50/50, once you've hit the ripe old age of 85. I know that you think that it’s horrible because it's basically a coin toss. There's got to be a better way of steering clear of this atrocious mind disorder. I've known two individuals who've had it so far. One was my grandmother, and the other is my wife's grandmother.
Alzheimer’s drugs were useless in the case of my grandmother. I think it was because the illness was simply too far advanced for medication to work effectively. On the other hand, it was a bit different with my wife's grandmother. She is still alive and kicking at the age of 84. The problem is that her condition grows worse as time moves forward.
The Alzheimer’s drugs apparently wore off because things got hairy, when my wife and her mother went to visit the old woman in Germany last year. They were all sleeping in her grandmother's home when she suddenly jumped out of bed and started ranting. The old woman thought that her daughter and my wife were communists or something. She was suddenly acting like she was in WWII. They decided to cut the trip short because the ineffectiveness of Alzheimer’s drugs was incredibly discouraging for her daughter.
Fortunately, Alzheimer’s drugs are improving as time passes. Many people are hoping that there will be new breakthroughs and better medications for this disease. Hopefully, there will be a cure for this relentless illness, by the time I hit that ripe golden age. However, the somewhat effective Alzheimer’s drugs are all we have until then.
