The NEW MILLENIUM was ushered in with bells, fireworks, parties, great jubilation and all the other trimmings! Yet, with all of that, we seem to have entered a dark age of anxiety. Terrorist attacks, wars, record crime levels and lack of personal safety at home and in the streets, abound more than ever before. We are living in trying and difficult times and things don't seem to be getting any better. Stress, panic, uncertainties and a pervasive sense of hopelessness all add up to one thing: debilitating anxiety! Worry and depression seem to have become a way of life for many people. Day by day the world is becoming a crazier place to live in. Millions of people are in record levels of debt, many are losing their jobs, their homes and even their health. Research has shown that WOMEN suffer from anxiety almost twice as much as men. In fact, amongst men AND women anxiety is the most common of mental illnesses world-wide. The upside is that it can encourage you to take up a challenge to cope positively with changes, determination to accomplish a goal and the will to see it through. Acceptance of a situation and a plan to deal with it leads to inner peace and calmness, quite the opposite of the stress emotions of fear, anger or guilt!
