When women do not feel interest in sex and do not enjoy the same, it is called sexual dysfunction in women. There are four types of sexual dysfunction in women, which can be categorized as follows.
• When you have very less sexual desire than you used to.
• When you are not able to become sexually excited.
• When you cannot have an orgasm.
• When you feel pain during intercourse.

Causes Sexual dysfunction in women may be due to physical disorder, psychological disorder, age factor or certain medication.

PHYSICAL CAUSE It includes any injury, medical procedures and other medical conditions that cause pain, suffering from any disease like diabetes. Hormonal insufficiency also causes sexual dysfunction.

PSYCHOLOGICAL CAUSE Marital discord is one of the reasons for sexual dysfunction in women. Besides this earlier sexual damage, fatigue, depression, stress, etc also causes this.

AGE FACTOR Aging may cause changes in vagina and sexual desire. Women face lack of lubrication in older age that causes sexual dysfunction, as sex without lubrication does not give much please.

MEDICATION If you are on drugs for high blood pressure, diabetes etc, it also causes sexual dysfunction.

Besides these reasons there may be some other reasons like family concerns, financial problems, responsibilities, religious beliefs, physical abnormality, vaginal infections, drinking alcohol in excess etc.

Symptoms
• You are not interested in sex at all.
• Sex does not give you much pleasure.
• You feel Pain during sexual stimulation, intercourse or vaginal contact.
• You are feeling it difficult to become aroused.
• You are not reaching orgasm.

Treatment In many cases sexual dysfunction may be treated by exercised and counsellings at your home. Once the cause for the sexual dysfunction determined, it can be treated. The treatment requires is the comfort between you and your treating specialist and your partner. It also requires patient history in order to identify dysfunction, gynecological conditions or psychosocial information. Your treating doctor may give you counseling, suggest medication for any underlying cause or refer to a sex therapist.

What you can do
• You can have other sexual activities other than intercourse such as oral sex, massage or masturbation. This will help you to increase your arousal.
• Visualize sex. It will increase you desire.
• Study your body. What it needs in sex.
• You can ask your medical professional about the things that can affect your sex.
• Talk with you partner about what you like and do not like.
• Foreplay is a must. Enjoy it for a good moment. It will help you have a good arousal and will make your intercourse much pleasurable.

Although most women after menopause experience sexual dysfunction due to change in hormone production and circulatory conditions, an effective treatment plan set by you medical professional may definitely resolve the issue.
