Most of you know by now that I loathe the same ole boring 45-60 minute cardio routine. If you love that type of a workout by all means keep with it but if you’re looking for a little variety and feel like ramping up the intensity take a look at how easy it is to burn up 100 calories and more importantly how quick you can do it.
In our 10 minutes or less category we have the following:
Skip rope for 9 ½ minutes. Hike the great outdoors with at least 22 pounds in your backpack for 9 minutes, 15 seconds. Tough here in Florida to find any hills here but there is always a set of stairs someplace close by. Play racquetball for 7 minutes, 17 seconds. Swim a few laps of your favorite stroke back, breast or butterfly): 8 minutes or less, depending on the stroke. Travel underwater instead of on the top of it and you can burn calories even faster. Scuba-dive for seven minutes, 11seconds. Hit a few on the tennis court: Play for nine minutes.
Ok, how crazy do you want to get? If you have 5 minutes to exercise here are a couple ways to burn it up in 5 minutes or less.
Chop wood continuously for 4 minutes, 22 seconds. Heck if you want you can swing a basball bat into a tire swing for the same effect. Run a five - minute mile. (You'll have burned 100 by 4 ½ minutes) Jump on a stationary bike and ride it at a pace of 20 MPH for 4 minutes, 52 seconds. High knees (vigorous) 3 minutes 14 seconds.
Changing up your routines, both cardio and weight training is a simple step all can take that undoubtedly will yield great results.
Keep it safe and simple and always remember that there is no such thing as not having time to exercise.
