"Get Out Of Bed And Do This. It's Time To Get Your Shake On"

If You Don't Do This When You Wake Up... Grrrrrr

Frank,

Over the course of the last year, I've assisted a few beginners who joined the gym I workout at and the 1 thing they all seem to do is...

Train harder and harder, more exercises, more sets and more reps until they burn out. When I ask them about nutrition...

They have no clue!

They don't eat 5-6 meals a day. They don't track their diets. They do not count calories and they eat a lot of food that isn't helpful to their goals.

Which is why I'm writing to you...

Over the course of this last week you no'w realize how crucial these activities are to reaching any fitness goal. It doesn't matter if you want to gain weigh't, lose weigh't or just maintain. With that in mind, here's the real reason I'm writing.

Jared is one of my great friends and has been following what I'm doing. After a great armworkout he came up to me and we started chatting about nutrition in general. I told him that after I exercise in the AM for my cardio I eat around 7:00am.

"Man, I don't know how you can eat that early. I don't eat anything until about 9:30am after I've been at work a couple of hours." - Jared replied.

His response shocked me!

What! Did I hear that right? I confirmed with Jared and he was indeed serious. He slept about 7-8 hours, woke up, went to work and ate later.

No protein shake? Nothing. Nope.

This is a prime example of the biggest mistake most beginners make when they start a new day:

They just went through a 8 hour stretch of no protein for their growing muscles. They wake up and don't eat. They have basically just put their bodies into a 10-12 hour starvation mode!

In other words, they expect their muscles to grow but they do not supply the constant flow of essential nutrients in order to do so.

This is a terrible mistake.

Why? Because the first thing you need to do when you wake up is give your body some protein fast to feed those muscles.

Think about it. You work in the afternoon or early evening and then you have dinner. Before bed you don't ingest another thing. You sleep 7-8 hours or more. You wake up and don't eat. Your body requires protein for muscles and you haven't given it any in quite some time. Do you honestly think your growth will be optimal?

You've just ruined your chance to leverage every opportunit'y to grow. Go ahead, do more sets, more reps and spend more time in the gym. Eventually your body will get the protein it requires to repair. Unfortunately,it will be from your other muscles.

***** In my Beginner's Guide, there's an entire section on the various proteins, shakes and methods you can use to quickly and easily pump protein into your system when you wake up in the morning. Go to http://www.beginning-bodybuilding.com for the full details. *****

Here's what you should do instead. Do this before you do anything else in the morning. Wake up, throw open the curtains, blinds or whatever and get some light. Mix yourself a whey protein shake and gulp it down. End the protein depravation mode.

What this all boils down to is this...

When you wake up, get your protein as soon as possible. Even if you aren't hungry, fine. Even if you don't feel like breakfast. Okay. But making this mistake will cost you. A little bit each day. So what can you do?

You can say, "Hey, I know I need to get something into my system immediately so I'll go make a quick shake, just a simple whey protein shake and ingest it right away. Before I hit the shower."

And then you do that every single day. You get your protein first thing in the AM. You can do it after cardio if you are an early riser.

But the point is...

Don't be tempted to leave the house without pumping protein into your system after waking up. The sooner the better.

A wonderful effect is that pretty soon your muscles will start to grow. Slowly. A little bit each day. You didn't even have to workout any harder either. It's a simple process.

No'w you are starting to pay attention to what you eat and when you eat. You have to fuel the machine. Without proper fuel, working out can actually be bad for you.

That's how you can ward off the mistake so many others make as they push away at big weights, do more cardio, more and more and more, while you just workout, stimulate growth and feed your body the protein it needs.

Warmly,

Marc David

P.S. In the final issue of your Beginners mini-course, let's talk about where to begin. What one program, one book and one supplement is the GOLDEN one?

Hi Marc,

Its a pretty neat book with all the basics explained comprehensively. I was perplexed in the beginning with tons of information on internet and myriads of books out there without basic explanations. Your book is pretty good at dealing with the agonies of the beginner and also has a great explanation about the aspects of nutrition.

Thanks,

Murthy
