It is quite confusing. No one really knows why healthy babies get cradle cap. There are many proposed reasons for children getting affected by this condition. One medical theory suggests that mothers who have had a hormonal rush just prior to giving birth have babies who are liable to be affected by cradle cap. The hormonal imbalance subsequently stimulates the baby’s oil procuring glands and, hence, a crust appears in the head. This condition is not contagious nor is it too bothersome. However, in some exceptional cases, there may be some bouts of itching. When the crusty condition exclusively affects the head, it is known as cradle cap.

Cradle cap can be treated without professional medical help. There are a lot of shampoos available in the market that can treat this condition effectively. One of the most recommended courses of cure is the use of olive oil. Olive oil softens the flakes in the head. Mothers can use the following morning to wash off the flakes with a certified shampoo.

If the cradle cap condition is not very acute, they simple combing of the hair with brush having light bristles can do the trick. But there are cases where the condition is far more severe. For such circumstances, the following method can be followed. Use a soft-bristled brush and lather the affected areas in a circular motion. Make sure you are massaging the affected areas. Use a good anti-dandruff shampoo for the purpose. One proper rinse afterwards and the condition will be as good as gone. Of course, this is not a comprehensive remedy. Should the condition still persist then it is time one takes the help of a doctor.

These days there are numerous baby care products in the market. You can go shopping for them or use the online alternative. The Internet offers one a host of choices to work with. Getting cradle cap treatment is no hassle these days.
